EXAMPLES OF CONDITIONS TREATED
The ideal outcome of occupational therapy is to empower people to participate in their desired occupations or activities by restoring physical function, strength, balance, endurance, and coordination. This may include modifying one’s environment with specialized equipment or implementing adaptive techniques and strategies that enable individuals to expand activity participation and increase independence.
Some examples of issues that an occupational therapist will treat via evidence-based interventions:
- Decreased balance, safety, ability, quality, consistency and aerobic
endurance with - ADLs/IADLs (i.e. Bathing, dressing, grooming, Meal
- planning/preparation, household tasks)
- Activity or environment modification
- Adaptive equipment
- Caregiver training, med management
HOW OUR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS ARE QUALIFIED
Occupational Therapists must receive a master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college or institution. All therapists must pass a national board exam to ensure clinical expertise, and all occupational therapists are licensed in the state in which they practice.
